D3 European Headquarters Delivers Two Spectacular LED Billboards in Scotland, UK for Forrest Media CityScreen Project

CityScreen Edinburgh and CityScreen Great Western Gateway are the first UK outdoor installations to feature D3’s premium Black Package LED product.

Birmingham, UK / October 2, 2013 – Dynamic Digital Displays Europe, the European Headquarters of D3 LED, LLC (D3), today announced the completion of two new LED digital displays for Forrest Media, the Scottish-based out-of-home media owner. Both displays feature D3’s latest LED display design utilizing premium “Black Package” SMD (Surface Mount Diode) technology. Boasting extremely high contrast ratios, the new design delivers superior image definition and maximized viewing angles. The new screens went live on 23rd September 2013 and have attracted top advertisers including Fiat, Carling, Clarks and Stella.

Located in Edinburgh and Glasgow, the two CityScreen displays signify Forrest Media’s expansion of its premium digital offering just as Scotland is preparing to host a number of high-profile events including the Commonwealth Games, Independence Referendum and Ryder Cup.

CityScreen Edinburgh is located on Leith Walk, one of the main routes leading into Edinburgh City Centre, and is the first commercial advertising screen in the capital. The 12mm SMD LED display is an extended mega six portrait, comprised of 486 individual LED modules and measures just over 50 square metres. The display design features a central elliptical totem structure, which incorporates perforated holes to allow for a colour change wash effect from an internal LED light source.

CityScreen Great Western Gateway is an extended 48-sheet landscape display located on the approach to Anniesland Junction in Glasgow; the second busiest interchange in Europe. Also a 12mm SMD LED display, the giant 10m x 5m screen will be viewed by thousands of people every day, and follows the same principal design aspects as CityScreen Edinburgh.

“Both CityScreen sites are located at premium locations within Scotland’s two largest cities, and with D3’s superior LED Black Package product they have made an incredible impact,” said David Neale, director at Dynamic Digital Displays Europe. “D3’s partnership with Forrest Media is a fantastic beginning for their inward investment plans for Scotland’s digital-out-of-home marketplace,” commented Neale.

D3 provided a full turnkey LED display solution for both sites, including design, manufacture, installation and maintenance service. D3 was able to offer design-led focus at every stage to differentiate the CityScreen digital portfolio.

Marc Keenan, managing director at Forrest Media, stated: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing these two new screens to the Scottish Out-of-Home marketplace. Edinburgh is such an important city from an advertisers’ point of view and we are delighted to be delivering a dynamic platform in a great location. Our new Great Western Gateway will blow people away. In keeping with the vast majority of our estate, we own the land and we are never afraid to invest in the very best technology and architecture available, to deliver outstanding platforms for advertisers".

The Company has designed and manufactured more than half of all LED displays installed in New York City’s Times Square since 2005 and its clients are some of the most iconic brands in the world – including UNIQLO, Samsung, Disney, Quicksilver, Aéropostale, Victoria’s Secret, Forever 21, and more.
