Next month, the newest, biggest and most technologically sophisticated digital billboard in the entertainment Mecca goes live on the side of the Doubletree hotel. With a cinema quality interactive screen, it will be capable of everything from exchanging data with cellphones to broadcasting high-definition video feeds with the highest resolution of any sign around.

Meanwhile, a new association of Times Square sign owners, advertisers and others is planning to launch next year a daily extravaganza called "Times Square Midnight Moment." While details are still being worked out, the plan is to capitalize on the growing number of digital billboards to put together a coordinated display.
